Seven FCW Alums Participate in 2006 NCAA Division 1 Men's Soccer Championship Tournament
Having an FC Westchester background must also mean a player carries a rabbit foot in their pocket in college.

That’s because seven FC Westchester players participated in the 2006 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament.

Michael Mingione, who played with both the FCW ‘86s and ‘87s, is part of the St. John’s team that received an automatic bid based on St. John’s winning the Big East Tournament, while Matt O’Donnell of the FCW ‘87s headed to the tournament with his Providence College team, which won one of the at-large bids awarded to Big East teams.

Chris Riordan and Evan Unger -- who also played for the FCW ‘87s – are both part of the unbeaten-in-conference play Monmouth University squad that won the Northeast Conference and thus received an automatic bid into the tournament.

And Fairfield University’s David Piedrahita of the FCW ’89s, Hofstra’s Richard Martinez of the FCW ‘88s and Harvard’s Charles Altchek of the FCW ‘85s all headed to the “Big Show” based on automatic bids their schools received based on winning the MAAC, CAA and Ivy League respectively.
