Congratulations to the FC Westchester '96 Boys and '97 Boys Being Regional Semi-Finalists at the Region I National Championship Series
Congratulations to both the FC Westchester ’96 Boys and ’97 Boys, who were both Regional semi-finalists at the at the US Youth Soccer Region I National Championship Series held in West Virginia.
On Saturday of the event, the ’96s won their U13 match against Arsenal of Pennsylvania West 1-0 on a goal by Jeffrey Antoine. By winning the match, the ’96s have clinched a spot in the regional semi-finals. In the semis, the ’96s lost to Bethesda Fire 1-0 on a late second half goal. Meanwhile, the ’97s lost in the semis to Beachside 3-1, playing just an hour after their last game in which they clinched the wildcard spot in the semis.
Saturday, the ’97s had topped Lightning of New Hampshire 4-1 in their U12 match, despite playing a part of the first half and the entire second half shorthanded due to a red card.
On Friday, both teams were victorious in their opening matches. The ’96 Boys topped Team America from Virginia 4-0, while the ’97 Boys beat Hockessin Thunder of Delaware 1-0.
The ’96s got off to a fast start in Friday’s U13 match, getting goals from Jorge Porras and Jeffrey Antoine in the first half. Second half goals by Richard Moessner and Porras clinched the match. In the U12 match, the U12s, got a lone goal from Lucas Pereira to take home the win.
