FC Westchester U16s Top Oakwood 4-1; U18s Win 1-0 in U.S. Soccer Development Academy Action
Purchase, N.Y. (March 7, 2010) == The FC Westchester U16 team topped Oakwood SC 4-1 and the U18s slid by Oakwood 1-0 in U.S. Soccer Development action Sunday in games played at Purchase College.
In the U16 match’s, FC Westchester went up 1-0 in the eighth minute when Ryan McNamara took a pass in the box from Brian Kenny, but was taken down in the box for a penalty kick that McNamara subsequently put home. FC Westchester scored two more goals in the game’s next 20 minutes when Andres Penfold fired home a David Alemany pass and then Cesar Ceja finished another good pass from Alemany.
Oakwood scored with three minutes to go in the half to make the score 3-1, but then Parker Delmolino iced the game in the waning moments off a pass from Roberto Silva for the 4-1 final.
In the U18 game, FCW’s Hiroki Kobayashi was taken down in the box in the match’s 15th minute, with Brian "Cobi" Span putting in the penalty shot for the game’s lone goal. Josh Weiner had the shutout in goal for FCW.
Meanwhile, in a U14 Pre-Academy match also held at Purchase College Sunday, FC Westchester tied Oakwood 1-1, with FCW getting its goal from Jeffrey Antoine.
The U16s return home to Purchase College Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. U.S. Soccer Development Academy match against South Central Premier. The U18s take on South Central at 7 p.m. Thursday, also at Purchase College.
