FC Westchester U16s and U18s Beat New York Red Bull in U.S. Soccer Development Academy Action
Purchase, N.Y. (April 29, 2010) -- FC Westchester’s Cesar Ceja scored 20 seconds into the match as FC Westchester’s U16s went onto defeat New York Red Bull 4-0 Thursday night in a U.S. Soccer Development Academy match played at Purchase College. In the second game of an Academy doubleheader, the FC Westchester U18s got four second half goals on the way to a 4-1 victory over New York Red Bull.
In the U16 match, Ceja scored the early goal off an assist from goalkeeper Alex Kapp. The score remained 1-0 through halftime, but then in the 67th minute Andres Penfold scored off a pass from Chris Joseph to make the score 2-0. Then Gabe Stauber, off a Roberto Silva assist, and then Penfold again scored goals in the 78th and 80th minute to clinch the game.
Kapp had the clean sheet in goal for FCW.
In the U18 match, both teams entered halftime scoreless, but then FC Westchester got four consecutive goals from Bucky Illingworth, Hiroki Kobayashi, J.P. Arenas and Keith Francisco to take a 4-0 lead. Red Bull scored with about six minutes to go to make the final score 4-1.
