Two FCW Players Selected to Participate in Prestigious Maccabiah Games

Two FC Westchester players -- Jacob "Duff" Bedrosian from the FCW ’95 Boys and Michael Abraham from the FCW ’94 Boys -- have been selected to participate in the 18th Maccabiah Games to be played this summer in Israel.  Both players were selected after a tryout held a few weeks ago in Florida that attracted elite Jewish soccer players from across the country.

Sometimes referred to as the "Jewish Olympics", these Games are held every four years in Israel attracting the most outstanding Jewish athletes from around the world. The 18th Maccabiah will be held July 2009. Open, Junior and Youth teams participate in 31 sports at the games.

As one of the largest elite competitions, the Maccabiah grew to over 7000 athletes from over 50 countries making it the third largest sports event in the world.  Opening Ceremonies will be July 13, 2009.
