FC Westchester U15 Pre-Academy Team Comes Home Victorious From Potomac Memorial Day Tournament
Playing up in age, the FC Westchester U15 Pre-Academy team came home this weekend with the first place trophy in the U16 age group at the Potomac Memorial Day weekend tournament.
The team won the tournament by topping Century V of Western Pennsylvania 3-2 in the finals. Century was the 2009 Western PA state champions and a team that is playing in the state semi finals this coming weekend.
In the finals, FCW was down 2-0 in the first 10 minutes, but Jack Young made it 2-1 on a penalty shot in the 20th minute. Then, Fabian Chapparo tied it up in the 30th minute on a great pass by Lucas McBride. In the second half, both sides had great chances, but Abe Hannigan made three spectacular saves in the last 10 minutes. Then one minute into the overtime period, Tomas Penfold put a perfect ball into space and Lucas Mcbride scored the game winner on a chip shot.
The U15s topped the Blackwatch U-16 2-1 in the semi-finals. Blackwatch is playing in the Eastern NY state finals these weekend.
Down 1-0 most of the match, FCW tied it up with 5 minutes left on a goal by Chapparo, assisted by McBride. On the last play of regulation Ryan Walsh scored on a cross by Jessie Chan to put the 94's in the final and the most spectacular celebration ever.
