FC Westchester '91s Win Fourth State Cup Title With 2-1 Overtime Win Over East Fishkill Thunder
Team Now Heads To US Youth Soccer Region I National Championships West Virginia

Plainview, N.Y. (June 12, 2010) -- A great goal by Tom McNamara a few minutes into the first overtime gave the FC Westchester ’91 Boys its fourth State Open Cup championship medal as the FCW squad topped defending regional champs East Fishkill 2-1 in the U19 State Cup final played at Peter Collins Soccer Park in Long Island. The four state cup championships are the most by any FC Westchester team, topping the three State Cups won by the ’84 Boys.

FC Westchester went up 1-0 I the first half when Arturo Barajas drove a cross along the ground that McNamara put home for his first goal of the match. After controlling much of the second half, FCW gave up a late second half goal on a free kick. But in the third minute of the first 15 overtime period McNamara took a great layoff pass from Barajas and buried a 25 yard shot into the top corner of the goal.

FCW goalkeeper Andrea Ingenito made several key saves during the two overtime periods, including tapping a corner kick over the bar on the final play of the game.

The ‘91s -- coached by Edgar and James Quiroga and Matt McGuire -- now head to the US Youth Soccer Region I National Championships being held in West Virginia July 1-6.
